Listen now and support Behind Our Eyes
Listen Now
Four years ago, Sanford Rosenthal decided to form a writers group for persons with disabilities. He knew that there were some horror stories that people in the disabled community had experienced--and thought that  their stories could help change lives for the better if more individuals knew what the thoughts and feelings of persons with disabilities were. Behind Our Eyes now holds teleconferences on the first and third Sundays of the month, bringing together authors with disabilities from all over the U.S.

The group has now published an anthology that is available in print or through the Talking Books libraries across the nation now. It was written by 27 authors connected by telephone and computer from Walla Walla, Washington State to Florida and Maine. One author lives in Ireland and one in Germany. They write about human emotions that know no national boundaries.

Behind Our Eyes needs donations so it can hire professional mentors to help budding authors improve their writing skills and purchase software to enable blind authors to hear their words as they are being written.  All persons with disabilities are welcome to join.

Listen now to Rosenthal (Florida), Rebecca Hein (Wyoming), Bobbi LaChance (Maine), and Abbie Johnson Taylor (Wyoming) together via audioconference as they discuss their writing and the enormous, positive effect Behind Our Eyes has had on their lives. And of course, support the nonprofit as generously as you can!

Rowe, Deputy Director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, explains the foundation's special commitment to UNCF through the Gates Millennium Scholars Program. You'll also hear the inspiring success stories of three stellar Gates Millennium Scholars: Gunnar Larson, Jamie Stevenson, and Lina Mendez-Benavidez. And finally Edie Pearson, who raises money for UNCF in South Florida brings our program back to basics. She reminds listeners of the importance of contributing to UNCF. Listen now--and make as generous a contribution as you can.
